The New Generation video package plays. After it finishes, “Sparkle and Shine” by Econoline Crush plays, signalling the start of the show. The cameras show shots of the crowd before going over to the commentators.
STRACHON: Welcome to Live-Wire. I am your host, Sam Strachon here with FWF Hall of Famer, Ernest Bethea. Welcome back to the commentary table, Beast.
BETHEA: Thanks, Sam, it’s great to be back. What a show we have for you tonight.
STRACHON: In our... Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaain event, the US Tag Team Championships will be on the line.
BETHEA: Empire of Blood defend against the Clerks... and making their FWF debut, Serafin.
STRACHON: Serafin... or David Calaz and Jordan Glass have made a huge name for themselves in XVI.
BETHEA: Calaz is back and he’s brought a partner. Let’s see how the two of them get on tonight.
STRACHON: But before all that, we have another Collision guest match.
BETHEA: At Sunday Night ShowDown!, the Lost Heroes beat Matthew “The Raven” Knox and Ryan Spiva.
STRACHON: Spiva is up for a big challenge in just a moment as he takes on Lost Heroes team captain... Dan “Dragon” Taylor.
BETHEA: Don’t forget that this is Dan’s first singles match since Genesis IV.
The opening to Amon Amarth's "Cry of the Black Birds" rings out, and the houselights siut off completely. A slight mist begins to pour down from the rafters, the fans scream in anticipation, then the lights turn back on, in a dim blue. A fog rises around the entrance ramp, and Matthew "The Raven" Knox steps out onto the entrance ramp. He runs from side, to the other, screaming out to the fans. He then makes his way liesurely down the ramp, slapping some hands before taking a seat at the commentator’s table.
JENKINS: The following match scheduled is for one fall. Introducing first...
The Live-Wire logo comes onto the screen and the curtains are pushed aside as a young man walks down to the ring wearing a pair of blue jean shorts and a plain black t-shirt. The crowd continues chatting as they ignore this newcomer to the company, and “Sparkle and Shine” by Econoline Crush, the official theme music to Live-Wire begins to recycle as he continues to make his way down to the ring. Ryan rolls under the ring to a less than mediocre reaction from the crowd and walks over to his corner, eyes showing strong focus on the match that lies ahead.
JENKINS: From San Diego, California ...weighing in at 200 pounds ...Ryan Spiva!
The lights shut off. Then, a dark, red light surrounds the arena as “All My Life” by Foo Fighters blares over the PA system. After a moment, Dan Taylor enters the arena to a huge ovation. He begins to walk down the ramp, stopping halfway. He drops to his knees as a range of fireworks explode from the titantron. As the smoke is clearing, The Predator walks out as Dan stands. The two of them continue to walk down the ramp. Predator slides into the ring as Dan strolls up the black, metal ring steps. He ascends the turnbuckle from the outside and raises his arms as the crowd cheer. Moments later, he drops down onto the canvas and shakes Predator’s hand, who then gets out of the ring.
JENKINS: And his opponent, accompanied by The Predator ...from Manchester, England ...weighing in at 245 pounds ...the DDT Kid ...Dan “Dragon” Taylor!
STRACHON: We have been joined by the Iron Man champion and captain of team Next Generation, Matthew “The Raven” Knox.
BETHEA: Thanks for coming out, Raven. It’s good to see you.
Matt Knox: Same to you, Ernest.
The bell sounds. Dan begins to clap his hands, getting the crowd to join in as the two wrestlers circle the ring. They lock up and Dan quickly takes Spiva into a headlock. Spiva tries to find a way out of it, but Dan tightens his grip.
BETHEA: Arguably the best technical wrestler out there. I should know... I’ve been in the ring with him.
STRACHON: Matt, how do you think you’re going to compete against these quick technical moves?
RAVEN: I’m quite the technician myself when it come to wrestling. I’ve never faced Dan before so we don’t know each other’s skills. All I can say is... he’s going to be in for a surprise.
Spiva begins to elbow Dan. He then pushes him off into the ropes. Dan comes back with a shoulder tackle. He bounces off the ropes and Spiva quickly gets up and leapfrogs Dan. He goes for a dropkick, but Dan avoids it. Spiva gets up and walks over to Dan, who sweeps his legs. Dan tries to lock in the Sharpshooter.
BETHEA: He’s trying to put him away early!
Spiva quickly pulls himself to the ropes and Dan releases. Ryan gets up. The two circle the ring again. They lock up and this time, Spiva takes Dan into the headlock. Dan quickly pushes Spiva off into the ropes. When he bounces back, Dan connects with a high knee.
STRACHON: Spiva couldn’t get the shoulder tackle.
Spiva gets up and runs at Dan, but Dan hits him with an armdrag. Ryan gets up again and runs at Dan only to receive a hiptoss. He gets to his feet, but Dan lifts him into the air and drops him with a bodyslam. He then bounces off the ropes and connects with a running falling headbutt.
BETHEA: Spiva’s not doing too well.
STRACHON: I think that’s his inexperience showing, Bethea.
RAVEN: That’s the thing. He doesn’t have much experience, but he’s learning fast and turning into a great wrestler. I mean... he’s beaten me already. That’s why I picked him for my team.
BETHEA: But even if he learns fast, is he any match for the DDT kid? Dan’s had 19 titles in his career.
RAVEN: Spiva’s just starting out. It wouldn’t surprise me if he surpassed 19 when he’s done.
Dan picks Spiva up. He then raises him into the fireman’s carry. He is about to hit the Dragon Slam, but Spiva counters, hitting a DDT. He quickly rolls Dan over for the cover. ...1. Dan kicks out.
STRACHON: I think he picked the wrong person to DDT.
BETHEA: So Knox. Are you confident heading into the match this Saturday?
RAVEN: I’m definitely looking forward to it. I’ve got a lot of respect for the members of his team for what they’ve done for the business. But they need to realise that it’s our turn. It’s our time in the spotlight.
As Dan is getting up, Spiva hooks his head. He then takes Dan over with a Vertical Suplex before rolling straight into the cover. ...1 ...Dan kicks out. Spiva looks at Dan, trying to figure out what move to do next.
BETHEA: That’s the difference between Ryan and Dan. Dan will have a plan going into the match. Spiva looks as though he doesn’t know what to do.
As Dan is getting up, Spiva takes his arm. He tries to lock in an armbar, but Dan rolls out of it. Spiva goes for a clothesline, but Dan ducks it, bouncing off the ropes. Spiva turns around and Dan hits him with a DDT to the knee. Spiva stumbles around before Dan grabs him in a reverse facelock position.
STRACHON: The Dragon is showing no signs of ring rust in his return singles match.
Dan nails an Inverted DDT. He then begins to climb to the top rope as a “DDT” chant starts. He looks around. He then leaps off, hitting the Diving Headbutt. Spiva gets up. He stumbles into Dan who picks him up into the fireman’s carry position.
STRACHON: This could be the case for you, Foxy Knoxy.
RAVEN: Call me that again and I’ll rip your testicles off and feed them to you.
Dan looks out at the crowd. He then nails the Dragon Slam, landing straight into the cover. ...1 ...2 ...3.
JENKINS: The winner of the match ...Dan “Dragon” Taylor!
RAVEN: It’s been fun, guys, but I’m gonna head off.
Knox stands and takes off his headset. He then slides into the ring and stares at Dan. The two of them stare down in the middle of the ring. Predator climbs in and pulls Dan back, but Dan resists. He then holds out his hand. Knox and Dan shake hands without breaking the stare.
STRACHON: This friendly rivalries looking a bit heated.
Predator reaches into his pocket and pulls out Dan’s trademark red, tinted sunglasses. He puts them on Dan’s face, covering his eyes. Dan and Knox release their grip and The Lost Heroes rolls out of the ring before making their way backstage leaving Matt and Spiva in the ring.
STRACHON: Well, we’re gonna have to take a short break now.
BETHEA: Don’t go anywhere.
